We are expanding our CIPFA Supports department and looking for Junior Financial and Data Consultants to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking for a new challenge and working with high profile public and government bodies. You will be key in helping the team and the wider public sector understand their financial and non-financial challenges, answering the ‘so what’ question and helping the sector and market improve its financial resilience.
About the Role
As a Junior Financial & Data Consultant you will:
- Focus on project delivery & client engagement
- Support and lead various consultancy projects, including finance-led improvement initiatives, savings programs, and system transformation projects.
- Utilise predictive analytics to forecast financial scenarios and outcomes, supporting long-term resilience planning for public sector clients.
- Collaborate with clients to design scenario planning models that integrate data-driven insights into strategic decision-making. Product Development
- Scope, develop, and implement advanced tools and services incorporating AI-driven predictive modelling and visualisation.
- Propose innovative products, methodologies, and processes to enhance client services and internal efficiency. AI and Predictive Technology
- Leverage AI and machine learning tools to enhance financial forecasting and predictive models.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and within CIPFA to design AI-driven solutions tailored to organisational challenges.
- Stay updated on advancements in AI and machine learning to introduce new technologies into client solutions. Research & Advisory
- Conduct research and consultancy activities on predictive analytics, scenario planning, and AI advancements relevant to public sector finance
About You
You will have:
- A degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, AI) or related field.
- Strong understanding of public sector services, finance, and CIPFA’s role.
- Proven experience in numerical analysis, predictive modelling, and scenario planning.
- Skilled in AI tools, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics (Python, R, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI for data modelling and visualisation.
- Expertise in data storytelling and presenting insights to senior stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Confident leading client-facing meetings and engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Motivated, proactive, and flexible team player with a commitment to public service values.
